I don’t know that I “like” David Lynch films, but he was such a colossally great artist within the medium. Mullholland Drive is probably the best Hollywood film of the century.

Other than The Elephant Man (1980) , his movies were not my cup of tea but he nonetheless had a prolific career. For his fans, he leaves behind a great library of work.
I watched Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart in various high school friends basements and it really felt like we were just not supposed to be doing that, like it was a key to another world entirely.
Takeshi Kitano and Wong-Kar Wai are why I ended up studying film. I did not think I could ever do what Lynch did, the unreality of his films are just inimitable. He just had a direct line to something I never would.
