The British Defence Secretary John Healey sent a message to the Putin's poodles:
“You challenged Europe to step up. I say to you that we have, and that we will further.” #byukpolitics

On major foreign policy Europe does not and cannot defy US. They are subservient.
Would not the world have been better served if Europe had acted as a counterveiling power opposing Bush's misadventures in regime change?
You know, rather than following Bush into disaster like helpless the lapdogs they are.
Where were the sanctions on the US for invading Iraq? Or supplying the Gaza genocide? Oh, yeah, client states cant do that.
I WISH Europe would exert independence on the world stage and not just defference to US empire.
NATO and the US nuclear umbrella prevented a nuclear arms race in Europe so far.
Are we really ready for a nuclear Poland? A nuclear Germany?
We’re so far away from disarmament talks with Russia China etc probably readdress it in about 400 yrs time
Or else they wouldn't be thinking of going nuclear themselves.
U.S. offers an umbrella that pre-Trump was trusted to protect all of NATO. No one really believes France or UK can or will.
If Poland were invaded yes the rest of NATO would step in. Well, all but one member right now anyway.
UK and France together have 515 nukes. Russia has 5,580.
Would the UK or France use nukes against Russia, w/o US backing, to protect Germany, or Poland, or Latvia?
Been waiting for Europe to assert an independent foreign policy since Bush invaded Iraq - which ofc was great inspiration for Putin.
With regards to GDP, Poland was the NATO’s biggest spender at 3..9% then the US at 3.49% then Greece 3.01%
No doubt NATO would be crippled without the US but you shouldn’t ignore what others contribute too.
When has any European country meaningfully exerted a foreign policy on the global stage in contravention of Washington's wishes?
Meanwhile the bigger economies fund lavish welfare states without really having to worry about defense for the past 75 years. And their spending is pultry.
