I was my dad’s favorite but my husband didn’t ask him. Dad was hurt, but they’d never met, we lived 2700 miles from them. They met a few days later at Christmas.

He ended up spending a lot more time with my dad than any of my brothers did, they had more in common.

When my fiancee was calling family and I took the phone my father-in-law to-be said "You know it's traditional to ask the father of the bride" and I just said "What are your thoughts on the matter?" And then he said a nice thing but I was like haha I asked without asking.
