Zelensky has an ability that must seem alien and terrifying to Trump: He can laugh at himself. He can laugh at himself, have others laugh at him, and then move on to be completely serious and an inspiring leader. A mind like Trump’s can grasp that, even when not addled by drugs and dementia.

The party is not deeper. They support whatever Trump says. The rest of them will adopt the language of abusers soon too about the Ukraine issue. This is the party that told women that if raped, they should just lean back and enjoy it; real rape won't result in pregnancy, etc.
