The man who woke up a whole richer this morning without doing a thing? Say hello to Vladimir Guerrero Jr, the prize of next year’s free agent class. The price tag soars after Juan Soto’s record 15-year, $765 million deal.

He is not getting Soto money, but he has been in the top six in MVP voting twice in the past four years, has a Gold Glove, two Silver Sluggers, and he will be 26 when he hits free agency. $765 million for Soto bumped Vlad well out of the territory he was looking at prior to that deal.
Oh yeah. His floor is now $400M. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it before next year.
The Jays were in on Ohtani and Soto, don’t be surprised if they open up their wallets to prevent him from reaching the market. They have the money to do it.
Correction: Atkins and Shapiro will fumble this. Aside from renos to the ballpark (stadium) and spring training complex, the FO's job in drafting and roster construction has been a "D-".
It’s interesting seeing people say Vladdy isn’t on Soto’s level. Sure, Vladdy has been inconsistent, but he’s 25. Bryce Harper was also up and down. But when a guy does what he did at 22, then a flip switches in May and he’s statistically better than Soto from that point on, just as he was in ‘21…
He’s 25–the same age Judge was as a rookie, but with a couple of HOF seasons already. It’s not what he did as a youngster, but rather what he’s likely to do as a seasoned vet.

Which is obviously true. Where Vladdy may have been a $380M player, he’s now easily north of $400M.

His age will bring $ tho.
2032 MLB is going to have a hell of roster of extremely expensive DH's.
They should move him and get something but they won’t, they’ll not make the playoffs and they won’t re-sign him.
