🥇 THE FAWCETT GOLD MEDAL CHALLENGE
What are the greatest Fawcett GM novels?
🧵 My dream of reading every GM title and writing a comprehensive guide is unlikely to happen. So I’m doing the next best thing. I’m asking each of you to nominate up to ten of your favorites. 1/2

Second, I’m not sure all of these books exist anymore in any form. My guess is that 1-2% of the catalogue may be lost forever.
- an introduction to GM, constraints, methodological issues
- a detailed look at the top 100
- a listing for the complete catalogue or as much of it as you can piece together
I’d love to have your thoughts.

In no particular order...
1. TO TAME A LAND/Louis L'Amour
Surprised you didn't throw in a Whittington. Then again, your favorites might have been from other publishers.
If any other personal favorites come to mind, don’t hesitate to follow up.
That’s just incidental artwork to accompany the post.

I've put mine in two more posts below!
10: Drum-Beat Dominique, Stephen Marlowe
9: Murder in the Wind, John D. MacDonald
8: Assignment White Rajah, Edward S. Aarons
7: Canyon of the Gun, T.V. Olsen
Regan named the L’Amour western, too. At #1, I believe.
I forgot all about Fire in his Hand until I started going through the list of GM books! I need to dig my copy out for a reread.
Almost picked Bannon's Beebo Brinker, as I think it is better written, but Odd Girl Out floored me years ago and deserves its spot.
5: Fire in his Hand, J.C. Sheers
4: Death of a Citizen, Donald Hamilton
3: The Wrecking Crew, Donald Hamilton
1: Odd Girl Out, Ann Bannon
