I always thought it was kind of ironic. Charles Schulze peanuts claimed I wasn't much of an artist. He was the real artist where people like myself who try to make things look super real are in a way just copiers. Artists Need to get away some from perfectionism.

Trying to be yourself and trying to be professional are 2 different things. That's where I think impressionistic oil paintings might keep your rough draft and your finish Ed product more equal on likes.

If I could like this twice I would because thats literally exactly why I like unfinished works so much! Theyre little windows into the creative process, which is just as important to be shown! Finished works can be poached, but theres no money in prototypes, which makes them more genuine IMO 🫡

As a beginner artist it helps to see the sketch - sometimes the end state seems like an impossible task, but the sketch can point the way

I've had drawings that I liked rough drafts where the colorized oil lost something. You have a lot more freedom in a way with the drawing. I think sticking more to imaginary world with painting is probably more effective. I remember Roger ebert making that point with black and white films.

People aren’t seeing anything, it’s just that sketches and messy work is more relatable and thus marketable. Truth is, actual talent makes people feel inferior and insecure, so it doesn’t get celebrated as much as the mediocre. As nice as the no makeup sentiment is, there’s nothing more to it/nbr

A good friend of mine is an artist, and one day she said she wanted to draw an avatar for me to use on some social media sites.

Her finished work was fantastic, but I felt bad because I kinda liked the in-progress version better. It almost felt more personal in its rougher, less polished state.
