(this might be a good book to point to when i say 99% of writing advice is bullshit made up post-hoc by writers procrasting online, and that there aren't actually any laws beyond the grammatical that can't be overwhelmed by sheer stupid energy)
Yes honestly and as you get deeper into the series this vibe only intensifies. An absolute masterclass in whatthefuckery. A slam dunk with sword himbos.
Please read them back to back to spare yourself the self-gaslighting when nothing makes any sense 🙏
Yeah, that second book really kept me filling my L1 cache then filling my L2 cache, then filling my available RAM, then filling my swap space all waiting for it to please come together and make sense
Absolute gold with every book! 2 and 3 are confusing at first but things start to slide together in your brain while you read in a very satisfying way, promise! And there's some iconic scenes and characters to meet! Adore these books 🖤🖤
second person narration PLUS a '2 weeks earlier...' opener was a real rough start but I'll pick it up back up. Still savouring the glow of the first one.
Yeah, HARROW is the sort of book I started, went “wait, what?”, and had to reread GIDEON before I went back to it. And it still took me a while to figure out what was going on.

Love TLT, still annoyed Alecto isn't out yet

which it did, of course
Also idk if you're into audiobooks, but the narrator for this series is A+ excellent.
But it all pays off in the glorious weirdnesses of the back half of Harrow.
(I have no idea what Harrowhark is but maybe worthwhile to check out.)
I'm not good at reading like I'm more focused on the act of reading than the actual material so audiobooks are a godsend.
