I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist.
Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

I'll happily let AI clean my apartment so I have more time to do art... actually I'm not sure I can trust it to not vacuum up my cat in the process.

Idk..I understand that but somehow I think it wouldn't be good for me. I'd lose all my discipline once I start this. And it somehow is part of our life. Taking care of ourselves also includes cleaning the apartment. There was a time I did nothing else but art and I got depressed af lol

I was mostly going for the joke about how terrible it could be for AI to rule our lives like rat.

The problem is technology used to made to help us our lives easier (manufacturing, etc), now corporations just want to remove workers as much as possible so they can keep more profits... hence AI.

Wouldnt be bad if they would also change the system. Jobs nobody likes to do can be made with machines of course but there should be regulations, new jobs, more possibilities to work on your own life etc but that would take decades to develop. So better not start at all? Or risk it? Idk to be honest

Went down the rabbit hole yesterday with my wife on the subject of this. So they used AI to replace artists, and as this junk gets better, they are replacing other jobs. At the last tesla con thing, they showed off walking robots. So, what is the end goal to just fully replace humans at every level?

What dumb idea will they put forward to handle the hungry masses of people that have been fully replaced by machines owned by the rich? So yeah, Universal Basic Income anyone? Tax the rich/stock exchanges to pay for it. Or will we all be forced to come up with some grift or cottage industry thing?

I definitely appreciate automation in certain aspects, as it allows me to do things I actually want to, like drawing, after having 8+ hours out of my day stolen by my 9-5. Generative AI doesn't fall into that category in my eyes though, because of course it's all stolen work.

It's like people want to play god or something it's bizarre.

I think it's why they go after things like art too.
It has less with trying to build something useful and more with '' proving it's human like us! ''.

It's not even to say, "well I had an idea, but can't put it down on paper myself, nor can I afford to pay someone to do it for me." The idea's already out there. That's what it's stealing from. There's literally just no need for anyone to put it out there and claim it's art.
