I also took a really nice cat photo on mt inari but had not yet reached the sign politely requesting cat maintenance donations before taking pictures of the shrine cats when I took it, so I'm not posting that one because I was out of change at the time

Never heard of cat maintenance donations! I assume that’s basically for food and stuff? And are you only allowed to take photos after you donate?

Yeah the idea is that they're taking care of the food and so on for the local dozen or so cats and they'd like people to contribute before taking a bunch of pictures and fussing the cats since it's an added expense but it's not enforced or anything
