✅ once because I thought the game was lacking much-needed content warnings. Got contacted by the dev, they changed it and then I changed my review to a positive one!

I have not, I always try to consider that it's a miracle that any video game comes out. This industry appears to do everything to stop that from happening.

I do think it's fair to critique games, but no one sets out to make a bad game.

❌ I’d rather leave a neutral review with constructive feedback. Some of the negative reviews aren’t just negative, they’re genuinely nasty towards the devs and CMs who have to read them. There’s no need for it.

✅ because I think it can be just as informative to potential players of a game to learn what doesn't necessarily work in it as it can be to learn what does. Just because it's not my cup of tea doesn't mean it won't be yours, and negative reviews can help communicate that.

But I have got a refund for just one game in my many Steam PC gaming years: John Wick Hex, due to its UI, game text and #subtitles being so incredibly small that I was unable to play it.
I didn't leave a review of any kind.

❌But only because the game I would have left a negative review for was already so overwhelmingly negative it would've made no difference. The only game I've ever needed to refund.
