When I was a kid I thought the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was *about* the Australopithecus. It was completely logical to 7 year old me that one of the most popular bands of all time made a tribute to a famous fossil.

I always misunderstood "One man went to mow, went to mow a meadow" as "One man went to mo - went to moa meadow, and imagined he was going to a meadow full of moas!
When I was about 12 I learned what LSD was and I was disappointed, then when I was about 15 I learned that the Australopithecus was named after the song and felt slightly better because it's a good song and a cool pop culture reference
