I had it as a kid in the mid 60s. I'm very lucky not to have had any lingering effects from it. No kid should get measles now, FFS.

It can. But in the UK we don't routinely vaccinate against it, and kids are basically expected to just get it at some point before they're about 5. A week off school trying not to scratch, and it's done.

Yes I know it does. I think in the UK the decision was made that it's not worth the cost for it to be routine. I believe those in close contact with people at risk can get it. Or it's available privately.
