Fascist regimes are brittle. They don't bend, they snap. Because they rule by fear and don't have the support of the people, this can happen very quickly. In russia, prigozhin almost made it happen in a week. Compare this to how Ukraine has held strong as a nation since the first day of the war.

Complicating factor is Kurds and some Christian sects actually were sort of being protected by Assad. I believe they are SDF, and the most pro democratic of the bunch.
Unfortunately, Turkey hates them. And Turkey is throwing out the bathwater (Assad, SAA, RU).
Some fights are being averted.
