Tim and Geoff's music would be nothing without stephen ruddys drivers, it had to have been absolutely incredible to be able to store music like that so efficiently none of the other devs at software toolworks had any issues with it.

Yes, it's cool that this stuff is being archived. But there's a ton of problems with how people are just putting one single guy on a pedestal when in fact he was collaborating with friends and family, both of whom he dearly loves. We really have to do better than this.

I've been told im very obnoxious about this, but I'm still not gonna shut up about it. All too often we attribute huge projects to one or two people that we form a (often deeply uncomfortable to the recipient) bizarre fandom around. Art is very often a team effort, and everyone deserves recognition

no, you're not "obnoxious" about this, this is something that needs to be heard and repeated until it's common parlance, especially in light of geoff's passing. it certainly doesn't help that geoff doesn't even have a wikipedia article and search engines are getting worse and worse but i digress

also, for additional context, it was initially claimed that Tim uploaded this to archive but it was uploaded by someone completely different, which just adds to the problem. I don't know Tim at all but I can't imagine he would appreciate being given all this credit for stuff others did

this stuff has always been going on in the back of my head where I feel like people act like he's an enigma instead of a real dude you can actually talk to.

honestly glad you're talking about this because this stuff's always bug'd me and ironically it does a disservice to Tim's music too.

i absolutely ADORE tim's music, and his work constantly inspires me to improve my craft. but so does geoff's music, and i'm floored by the amount of skill stephen ruddy had in making sounds like that possible on such basic hardware. the three of them were an unbeatable team

It's telling that for a while I wasn't even very aware of Geoff or Stephen at all due to the legend that overwhelmingly surrounds Tim
