If there's one thing we want scientists🧪 to take away this weekend it's this:
"Local [TV] channels talk to faculty all the time."
Lots is happening. Legal & political efforts will gear up. Organizing scientists is key—but will take time.
But every scientist can call their local TV station today.

Yeah, I don’t know where that person is getting their info because plenty of stations DO talk to experts. The reporting might not be a model of journalism, but 🤷‍♀️
My alma mater is a little farm town that revolves around the university. Local channels talk to faculty all the time.

I also asked them to get Andy Harris on TV and answer for this!
Start organizing. Get in touch with other fellow scientists that want to do advocacy and open lines of communication.
Consider all forms of forming strong ties. Find ways to plug into existing organizations and collaborate.

But in the medium term, scientists probably want to form up into groups or networks that do this kind of communication more systematically and coordinate, do media training, etc. Think about that now
