Love this article. I've been trying to rewild a chunk of my garden but brambles have taken over. It is certainly a work in progress... With steps forwards and backwards. It's not a huge garden, but not small enough to easily remove the brambles either. Will keep trying though.

Brambles can be very aggressive alright, but remember also that it's a native species and highly beneficial for wildlife.

No need to get rid of it all!

I love it on a big bank of my garden as I love the blackberries, but it has taken over other areas and made them problematic and impassable. They grew so fast.... But that article pointed out there's a difference between rewilding and abandoning land.. I think this is where I went wrong.

The other big problem is sycamores... They are growing all through my hedgegrow and damaging it.

I keep trying to cull the sycamore. And rhodedendrum. They both keep popping up everywhere. I live next to a woods so it comes from there. On the plus side, beautiful ferns keep popping up too, which I adore and encourage.

Rewilding definitely doesn't mean abandoning land. In a natural ecosystem, various herbivores would eat the briars, keeping them in check. So in a garden, you'll need to step into that role!
