I used to that stuff back in the 80’s on an Atari. Try making an interesting image with 8x8 one or 2 color sprite. Or a playfield with 4 color 8x8 blocks.

It's a bit simple, but it's not awful. I think it's a good idea to use smaller canvas size if you're trying to learn pixel-art. That way you can practice and experiment easier since there will be less space to fill with details.

I recommend starting at 64x64px to practice techniques.

Having spent like 20 hours making my first extremely basic pixel animation, I hear you. They make it look and sound easy but it feels like literally any pixel could make or break it. This looks great btw!

its hard , but one tip, pixel art on biggie canvas is easier than try to put everything in a 32x32 canvas , my skills went better when I had a bigger canvas , you can always go back to smaller canvas :-)
