My husband was 7 years older than me, and he figured he'd get a safer assignment by enlisting. He was turned down due to high blood pressure. That might have saved his life. His dad was in WW11. They took him even though he was sick. Kidney disease. He died soon after.My husband was 3 when he died.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mother's brother was a navigator. Some friends of his saw his plane go down. He was listed as MIA. He was 19 and had one mission left. My dad never talked about the war until he was 80. Then I realized why he never wanted to talk about it. He got a purple heart 💜.

My stepson worked with ordinances sp? also. He served 20 years only to get Appendix Cancer after one year. His Dr's said it probably was from what he was exposed to. Try to prove that . He died 8 months after being diagnosed. It's a very rare form of cancer. He was 48.
