Candy caps are fantastic and used mostly for desserts as a topping or to make other foodie stuff. I have only found them once and it was many years ago, they fruit in the Fall in Ontario.

No, not as yet as I'm not a big fan of sweet stuff. Others have done it by soaking in a sugary substance and the dehydrating them. They also do it with cat togue's mushroom.

Wood ear's texture is better and somewhat crunchy where as apricot jelly is more spongey. I love wood ear in sweet and sour soup.

thank you for explaining. spongy, hm... feel like more mushroom? i love the crunchiness of wood ear, always use it in my soup, all types of soup. if you like sweet sour, try wood ear salad with vinegar, taste great!
