It absolutely *is* absurd, but part of the underlying issue here is that those pushing this theory are doing so because they see "academic freedom" as not being just different from, but *superseding* free speech. This is at least partially about silencing *student criticism of their lecturers*.

The ruling on Stock is *absolutely absurd*. The school is being asked to suppress people's speech in the name of protecting free speech! It's positively Orwellian.
