Ben Brown might just be a future closer. But you don’t start a guy in that role on opening day having never attempting that feat in his pro career. You try him out as a reliever and watch him earn the closer role.

Agreed, he shouldn’t be “tried out” as the closer. But I think long term he might be the best suited in the org for high leverage relief. Not sure where he fits this year in terms of starter depth so he might end up getting some good relief innings as the year goes on
Yes there's not only the performance aspect there's the physical end of it as well, the last couple of years of pro ball he's been predominantly a starter, closers are often asked to make appearances back to back they'd need to see how he responds physically to that as well, esp coming of an injury.
