We need investigative reporting at the local and state level. Sometimes, it's the only pressure that officials will have for taking action against corruption, like the kind we saw in Brookside, Alabama.

I understand hating opinion columns, I say this as an opinion columnist, but reporting is good and if American democracy is going to survive we desperately need reporting to expose corruption.
