Yeah the mods are both flexible and a pain. I tend to just say no to anything other than some mods/flaws that make sense for a power, and cap base advantages at an appropriate limit for the points.

It requires more DM wrangling than 3e for sure. More toolbox than straight up tabletop rpg.

To be fair. I also remember Hero System 5E. (*Shudder* and 6E). And that was about the peak of what I could handle. The creeping modifier issue was a serious problem both systems developed.

seeing the phrasing of % of % just made me remember why I couldnt get into Path of Exile, but also the one time I played GURPS with my friend group the friend of a friend that GMed didnt understand that, SA on a character was an obvious line to not cross so it only lasted 2 sessions, but games neat

Building powers for awkward in 4E. To make different power levels you had to make weird modifications. The 4E Psionics book...hurt my head.

ah, gotcha, as someone whos first and only exp with mutants and masterminds (also very fun game) was doing the most taxing mechanical thing for my characters power, that doesnt seem too too bad, I should check it out when I stop making pf2e things for my living world that I still need advertise lmao

I'm running M&M soon, actually. I've tried other superhero systems (including GURPS) and I think I've gained an appreciation for the fact M&M has some sort of balance with it's hard caps on defences, skills and attacks/damage.

No other genre can cause player fear of a villain called Yoyo Man.
