Yes, because prayers work. It's always the response with these things, isn't it? Thoughts and prayers. Meanwhile, the carnage continues unabated because something something second amendment. Until the next mass murder....
The greatest cop out in the history of humanity.
Your all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-loving God refuses to intervene to prevent evil because the rules of the free will experiment, which he himself devised, say he must not.
Religion is a form of intellectual disability.
Functioning barricades when the streets are crowded seems like a good start. I've been to NOLA a hundred times. I lived right next door. Drunks run into the barricades down Bourbon all the time, but they were not up when the driver blasted through.
They need more than legislation. They need a governor more concerned about everyone at that scene instead of a governor more concerned about a dinner party and a football game.
We need legislation for sure, but that doesnβt happen overnight so in the meantime praying for and wishing good things for the city in this aftermath is welcome.
@aaronparnas.bsky.social, I went to the comments to find out what happened in NOLA. all I saw was haters. You are a genuine person and a fighter for democracy. I think you probably fight just as hard for social justice. I stand beside you with your post. Now off to find out what happened.
Prayers? Wouldn't you be praying to the "god" that just made the tragedy happen? So now we pray to the same "god"? You realize how absurd this is?
How about show graphic video of the dead and mangled after every mass death event. Then maybe something will be done to prevent the next one. Show us.
oh no! that was not god, that was his arch nemesis satan who god created but expelled from heaven when he got too uppity or whatever bullshit is in the buybull that these sheeple forge their pathetic lives around! sheeple pray; evangelists prey on them.
Nope, not going to happen. No such thing as prayers coming from an imaginary magical being in the sky. Hasn't worked yet for a reason because it's fantasy make believe nonsense created to control humans.
Praying is talking to oneself. Iβm not saying there anything wrong with that, but if there was some kind of being out there that you think listens to prayers and LETS shit happen in order to get his little begs, cries, pleas, and enjoy the rest of his sadism, a phrase like this is Super-insultingβ¦
β¦ and itβs thought-canceling. It is pure hot air spat to make the speaker of feel better about their actual lack of empathy within. Itβs a front. Fraud. Farce. Charade. Lie. Itβs disgusting.
Praying doesnβt do anything. Never has and never will. Prayers didnβt save the dead and injured. Prayers didnβt stop the terrorist. In the absurdity that is religion, it seems peoplesβ man-made gods donβt give a fig about prayers. Just makes people feel like theyβre doing something. Theyβre not.
One of the few times I miss being on twitter with breaking news. You could use the search function to find stories with a hash tag. Same with severe weather reports.
I agree I do miss the fast breaking news and updates on twitter (it's the absolute only thing I do miss) I am following several news outlets here and do check the breaking news tab but what happened in New Orleans is way down the feed there & not at all in the trending box π€·
Personally, I like to be informed about what is going on in the world around me - I also like to follow an investigation to garner the facts of an incident. Many people like to have access to breaking news stories. I honestly don't believe anyone wants to publish a meme of a tragedy.
We can all do more than pray. We can call all of our favorite congressional representatives and ask them to uphold our constitution section 3 amendment 14.insurrectionist Trump cannot hold Office. Donβt just pray, uphold our constitution. Do your part, America.
Praying to who? The same god that allowed this to happen? π Fairytales are for children, letβs act like adults and vote for reform! If they wonβt listen, we march. If that doesnβt work, we strike. WE HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE STATUS QUO. Letβs get to work.
Prayers for peace and healing. My heart is with the community of NOLA and all of the loved ones suffering today. May we work each day to share love and light and fight damn hard against hate and violence in all forms. πππ
@aaronparnas.bsky.social maybe also report on the video of the cops congregating in front of a local business instead of being dispersed and patrolling like they should have been
I am going to take a wild guess at the demographic of the New Orleans terrorist. What are my odds?
Homegrown American. Male. Maga. Millennial (or GenX). White.
This is an odd comment. Recognizing this particular time he was not white and maga, experience has shown the OPβs demographic guess is typically correct. I notice you R yt & male. Is that what triggered u or am I missing something? Just trying to understand the odd comment.
Not to distract from the pain and suffering but I have to wonder, on NYE of all times, with that area teaming with people, how is a vehicle even able to get that close??
What a useless waste of time. It is WAY past time to abandon the imaginary sky fairy, as itβs only a tool of old monstrous men to repress and oppress.
Thereβs no sky fairy. Please stop.
Poor New Orleans. How is it not a terrorist attack! It is important to know the skin color of the driver and the victims.
Prayers for the victims and the grieving hearts.
The terrorist, Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, was a 10-year Army veteran and worked as a real estate agent in Houston. There was an ISIS flag on the truck.
If he were white, I would say the motivation was racist, but as he has links to Islamic extremists it is clear that it is religious-ideological.

Praying is useless.
Each time there is a massacre in the US, many people pray.
And then there is another massacre.

Religion is a form of intellectual disability.
Who, what kind of person, would do that?
Karma is a bitch

as if that's just gonna wipe all of their problems away
Guns and trucks⦠this is America, right?
Thanks for nothing asshole.
You follow a MAGA
Homegrown American. Male. Maga. Millennial (or GenX). White.
On NYE.
On Bourbon St.
THATβS the point.
You think a god that sat back and watched the Holocaust will intervene in the well being of attack survivors?
Thereβs no sky fairy. Please stop.
Prayers for the victims and the grieving hearts.
If he were white, I would say the motivation was racist, but as he has links to Islamic extremists it is clear that it is religious-ideological.
Aren't they supposed to stop this sort of regular occurrence?
