Don't like tariffs, but not that simple. Tariffs on industrial goods raise business costs. Tariffs on consumer goods raise consumer prices. Original tariff idea was to increase the cost of imports, making the price of domestic goods relatively more attractive. IF there is domestic prod'n capacity.

While in theory, you're correct. But it is that simple when the affected businesses always pass on the increase in costs to consumers. Whether in product or services pricing, the consumer pays. It would be different if there were alternate American replacement products in our market.
