My brain vibes more with the bar chart since its working towards a total

I tend to think of pie charts as part of something already completed (if that makes sense?) Example: pie charts for the genres of books you've read so far

Oh, it’s totally fine for what you’re using it for. Folks in analytics are told not to use them for many reasons. Too many to really list here but it’s a running joke amongst analysts. Here’s a random post from searching “pie chart hate” https://www.ataccama.com/blog/why-pie-charts-are-evil
