as long as there are people who think the church should exist with its rights, privileges, protections and wealth status, despite the abuse going on, nothing will change. This is so haunting and beautiful and also sickening, it's gonna be in my head a long time. π
The person on the right has some kind of scar coming from their nose down to their mouth, is that to imply that they were abused heavily as a kid too and still have the visible wounds of the past?
@kmclaude.bsky.social I woulda been remiss in my duty as a person if I didn't say I bet you'd like Dove's stuff (though, for all I know, you live across the street from each other).
Lovely Piece! If i, a humble viewer might ask you, a noble artist a question about this piece. Is the piece about how the boy endures physical abuse from the church such as the old punishment hitting children on their knuckles or is the wound on his face meant to encapsulate abuse in general?
Abuse in general! The church puts up a facade of righteousness while being p dang rotten. I like the juxtaposition of such a holy setting and a dark festering pain
Yes as a catholic i admit its a problem and one thats been around for a long time. I can't speak of other countries but what I can say is that im glad the church in my country is trying to mend things. I agree that the juxtaposition is interesting but I also like the dark irony of it. that a ....
organisation or community under God's banner or brand can be so vile and evil. Its true what the good book says, that "the demon of babylon disguises himself with the coat of the righteous"

Am I correct in seeing that the person on the right also has a scar around his neck?
