looking at my art is hard sometimes because it looks all the same π same expression, same poses, same brushes... i don't know if it's a good thing to have recognition but it feels so stale to me. i really want to push myself to do better

You have the drive you have the determination now show the world you have the grit!!
You got this. It was said to me *they are just lines, and paint is smearing color on paper, you give it breath and depth*
I believe in you!!
ive felt that way before, sometimes just changing one thing can feel refreshing! sometimes ill change my brush or play with the poses! your art is really lovely im sure youβll find the progress youβre looking for <3
Your style is so recognizable and unique Sylvie! Personally I dont think it looks stale or samey at all! But I am curious and excited to see what's next in your artistic adventures π
π thank you otto! that makes me relieved to hear. i think i just woke up in a reflective state this morning about my art journey, but it's good to be self aware and hopefully this way of thinking will give me a push in the right direction to dive into new things!
Best way to break out of it is do something that excites you! Try something crazy different style-wise, download some new brushes. I was in the same place not too long then an injury forced me to draw differently and honestly it can be so refreshing. Don't be afraid to experiment!
this is reaching some wild numbers for being a silly morning thought aaaa- thank you everyone for the kind words, i have read all the replies here and i find comfort knowing i'm not alone. we're all our own worst critics, i find. we'll get through this funk together, i am determined πββοΈ
there's def merit in feeling like your art is stagnant vs. having a distinct style, but the best part of art is constantly evolving and improving!! if you feel it's time to work on changing things up then i'm excited to see what that looks like ππ₯
yes!! well said saber, and i definitely think i was maybe a little too harsh on myself this morning. i need to start gathering myself an action plan to work towards improving my art the way i wanna see it >:3 thank you!!
YA KNOW WHAT you're pretty darn right. AND YA KNOW WHAT ELSE? you definitely have a tech style to things you say/write, and i really can't wait to watch that come alive in MAR2!
I feel the same way with a lot of my music. It's easier to think of one SPECIFIC example you want to experiment with and try it out while keeping your normal flow, and then later you can use it when you feel appropriate. Building the Swiss army knife so to speak.
that's exactly where i was thinking of starting! backgrounds and finalizing the way i do proportions are next on my list of skills i'd like to improve. this definitely gives me some food for thought though, thank you!

I think I can understand feeling stale about it but I don't think that's a bad thing, you have an amazing style. I always love appreciating your art
i will be pushing myself to try new things πͺπ€π¨
No matter what crazy shit you think of, someone will see it and go "hey that looks like sylvies!" And I think that's pretty cool
I'd like to get there with my writing some day - "Tech definitely wrote this" kinda thing
