I think we'll have the films we love even if Amazon destroys everything about the character. I don't hold out much hope unless they get people who know the character to advise, and really great scripts which remember a story is needed among the stunts...

I just think Bond is being put on a pedestal a little, like there haven’t been plenty of awful Bond films before. Die Another Day is terrible, Spectre is dreadful. QoS is…ok if we’re generous. I love Bond, have every film on disc, but I honestly don’t quite get the outrage.

I think because at least the people who had control had a connection to it, Amazon doesn't - but doesn't also have people lined up who are known for great scripts, direction etc. they've bought a thing they have no clue what to do with.

Yeah, I see that argument. There was something nice about the same folk running it all these years. And I don’t think the big MCU/Star Wars treatment is the way to go (which they’ll surely try). Look at The Boys though, they’ve utterly nailed that. Does give me some hope!

I know it's sacrilegious, but I've always thought most Bond films are mediocre as it is. Not to say that Amazon will do a great job with them, but they are capable of making decent stuff.

Yeah, I think it’s a bit early to call Bond over etc. I really like Bond a lot but there have been some absolute shockers made.

I think people have an rose-tinted idea of Bond because the films were often shown on TV on repeat here in the UK, so the character invokes a fuzzy nostalgia for people. There are many far better spy movies and shows now though.
