I agree with Hartmann's take, but it is incomplete. The 2008 crash was also due to Bill Clinton's degulation of Wall Street in the 1990s. He signed legislation that did away with Glas-Steagle. That was the law that kept commercial banks separate from investment banks.

Interesting comparison - but Dillenger robbed from rich institutions primarily to financially profit for himself. Luigi (and we don't know all the details yet but from what we do) appears to have attacked an industry that literally KILLS people because they denied him and his mother care.

Was reminded of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow who became folk heroes and were surrounded by well wishers despite a depraved and bloody trail of cold blooded killings of police officers and bankers during the Great Depression. Plenty of us are okay with convicted felons who run for office.

I just finished a fictional book, Ministry of the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. Part of the story line has shadowy groups that go after fossil fuel CEO oligarchs that are killing people and destroying the planet for profit. I highly recommend you read this book.

As things get worse with trump in office I would expect more Luigi's to show up. The pitchforks are going to come out. I am sure many of the wealthy are building bunkers to hide in.
