BREAKING: French satellite company Eutelsat is replacing Starlink and plans to send approximately 40,000 communication terminals to Ukraine. Their stock has rocketed 390% in the last 3 days as Tesla Starlink SpaceX and X continue their freefall.

Yes, that looks promising. I also found this.

So there are lots of talks and intentions.
But Eutelsat/OneWeb have GEOs which require a $10,000 terminal intended for fixed-location businesses.
Not suitable for drones or back-packs, I think!

I should correct a false impression in that post.
EutelSat had GEOs, but OneWeb brought LEOs to the merger.

As far as I can tell, those LEOs are at 1200km altitude.
This weakens signal by 7.2dB, which requires more power for the up-link relative to Starlink.

It's difficult. Eutelsat has GEOs, altitude 35,786 km. But they merged with OneWeb which has LEOs, alt=1200km.

Starlink has LEOs at 520 km, a 7.3dB power advantage.
OneWeb was using Soyuz for launches!
