I remember getting it on release too, it was my third FF I'd played. (FF4 being my first and FF6 being my second) and for the longest time FF4 and FF8 were in my top 3 FF's until recently.

Both are still in my top 5 FF's though!

This game was my introduction to Final Fantasy, and will always be my favorite because of it. One day my dad took me to visit one of my cousins and her boyfriend had a Playstation (I didn't have one yet), I tried his copy of FF8 and was immediately hooked.
