When I was relearning how to draw I used to cry in frustration about this because my taste level was SO much higher than my human drawing level. I’d regressed preeeeetty far since college. So I feel you 😭

This is why when I draw, it’s backgrounds only. My issue with hand eye co-ordination is part of my disability, hence, I cannot draw characters worth shit. Even then, it may take me a few months to complete something

I’m self-taught, so don’t take my word as gospel. Sometimes the only way to get better is to push through the fact the drawing might suck. But that’s okay. Getting a feel for how it even works is better than waiting for it to be perfect. It’ll get better as you do it more, I promise. (More below!)

I redrew an idea I had three separate times. They’re all from this year, and months span between them. By this third time, I’ve gotten more confident in my characters, writing, and action to be able to articulate my ideas more. Keep trying, even if you hate it.

I say just keep trying to do it anyway. I wasn’t that good at drawing 2 years ago but I still tried to put my ideas to paper the best I can. The longer you do it the closer you’ll get to ideas and reality.

I am very beginner level at art, but I struggle with this, too.

Something I have started doing that has helped is rather than drawing a whole character, I will draw like little things inspired by that character design. Like a weapon, charm, shirt, coffee mug, plushie, etc. Then, work my way up.
