I guess also that solution is more like `defer`, though `async` seems like it could be problematic since then so you have a stylesheet applying at a random time?

Problem I see with async CSS ATM is number of style calcs that happen, in really bad situations calcs seem to happen after every sheet it loaded (although if sheets load closely enough together their application seems to ‘batched’)

Scoped styles etc can minimise this but requires skill / knowledge

I see this as a paving the cowpaths thing. People do this for a number of reasons already and it shouldn't require JS. I'm on a project now that uses the print hack to great effect. It's a shame we can't do it without JS

Yeh, I guess being able to do it natively with an attribute is not worse (and probably) better than relying on JS

We’d then just need to help people use it appropriately

(I’m more of a stick the non-critical styles at the foot of the page person)
