NEW: Trump’s advisors and donors are meddling in a Democratic primary to oust Pittsburgh’s first Black Mayor, Ed Gainey. This is a foreshadowing of what’s to come for incumbent Democratic Mayors—especially Black and brown mayors.

I'm a Pittsburgh Democrat and Gainey truly hasn't done anything in his term as mayor. I happily voted for him against Peduto last time, but truly, nothing has happened for the better this term.
I understand your frustration and tend to agree with you. I simply cannot get behind a candidate that Republicans are backing. What is their interest in O'Connor as a candidate?
Possibly to steer people away from him? I mean who knows what those crazy people are doing. Remember though, democrats supported a lot of Republicans that were running against Trump and his MAGAts. His stances are great. https://www.coreyformayor.com/
Will want to hear more about Rs propping up O'Connor, but Gainey has opened himself up to a challenger. I live right outside PGH so I don't get a vote but I am attuned to the shenanigans. Regardless, an iffy D is ALWAYS better than an R.
This is so complicated because Gainey has a lot that is good going for him, but frankly he’s been an ineffective Mayor. The guy they are propping up is the son of a beloved former Mayor, and will be a middle-of-the-road Democrat by all accounts. I hate this meddling, and I hate that they are
