I think his pick to head NASA is one of the few things that I think this administration has done ok with. SpaceX has brought the cost of sending astronauts to the Space Station way down. They have had really great reliability for manned and unmanned missions. Starship is a really good design.

Back to NASA though I was not a fan of the Artemis design. Congress tied NASAs hands in the design and prevented NASA from making it a viable program. The same thing happened with the shuttle.

Hey Dan, great to connect you're 100% correct. Congress pulled NASA’s strings & tied their hands. SLS was basically forced on them & required they used old Shuttle parts so Republican congressmen could keep their constituents happy in the south.

I'm in a NASA city. I think they'll kill the Orion/Artemis programs and a lot of aerospace engineers here will lose their jobs. But they are way over budget and years behind schedule thanks in part to political meddling.

Also, NASA has been wanting to go science packages & spacecraft for quite a while now, and leave launch capabilities in the hands of private companies.

Most don't realize that JPL is the one behind all the space missions & it has always been about science for them.

Yes because I love the cars. I own two. That said I don’t plan to buy any more until Elon is removed. Which probably means never. Tesla has some fantastic employees. I am attaching “Bought before I I knew he was a nazi” stickers this weekend. They truly are the best cars I have owned.

On the plus side if I keep them it looks like Tesla is going to have to replace both my FSD computers at their expense in order to allow further updates to FSD. So that will be a little less money for Elon.

A lot of owners just wanted a reliable electric car never even knew who Elon was. I moved from a Nissan Leaf and this was the first electric car I could drive across the country. My Leaf could only make it to work and back. I was a Musk fan years ago but most owners were buying a car.

I have a lot of friends who have Tesla's, but many of them got rid of them right after Musk's Nazi salute.

They realized that owning them helped enable fascism and they couldn't live with that. A car is just a car that can be replaced, but our freedoms can't.

Well I already gave them my money. I don’t plan to give them any more. I have had a reservation for a Aptera for a while. If they make it to full production I will probably sell my Model 3 then. But it would not be financially feasible for me to get a new electric car when this one is paid for.

I totally get that and understand. I just shared what a number of my friends did and we all protest in our own way.

But check out Rivian, the interior is far better than Tesla, drives beautifully, even off road, and even compatible now with Tesla chargers.

I think you underestimate how much poorly the choice could have been. Issacman is not the best choice but it could have been worse. My fears are that pure science endeavors like JPL are going to take a huge hit. Manned space missions will probably be expanded because they are flashy.

The first test would be the Mars Sample Return Mission. Hopefully congress can fund a NASA plan. Hopefully it is not as bad as I fear. I look forward to the election in two years to start to get off this crazy train.
