I'm kinda with Yaomay, ion like Kudou's answer either. Maybe I don't fully buy that he killed her but maybe he did in a metaphorical sense. They still haven't revealed what happened to the original Kujirai, but it sounds kinda bad

It would kinda explain the "attached to pain" thing actually. Like if *you* are feeling the pain, it's real. And also it felt like he was tryna convince Gwen that the second one could be just as good, if not better. They're different, so your opinions can change
