I actually will actively skip cards if I'm not sure I'll use them and I hate the spotlight art

They certainly fell off the system with art orders

Spotlights are filler and bundle variants or super rare are where the good stuff is

Games gotta make money sure but doesn't have to be scummy about it

I assume you're not talking about the main Spotlight cards, given we're coming off a month of amazing Pandart Spotlights, have He Tianyou killing it this month, and Alex Horley next.

But other Spotlights have also been decent, and some incredible ones coming up. Phastos, Sersi, Nimrod, etc.

At one point, SD said they wanted the Spotlight cards to be really special. Then they got behind on art and animating the variants, and either never caught up or calculated that people would use their keys anyway so stopped caring.

OG Spotlight variants were amazing (and some still are) but there is no way you can tell me Toon World Baron Zemo deserves to be next to things like the OG Spotlight of Knull

I really care about the art and have made this exact criticism before, but I don't understand the timing of making that point now.

It's obviously dependent on taste but recent ones have been mostly good.

I use tokens only on weeks I hate vars and there's no upcoming week like that for me.

I have made this observation before too but it popped up again after seeing Makkari. That variant is just not high quality enough for a Spotlight.

Neither is Blink, Baron Zemo, Loki, or Phoenix Force.

That is the majority of Spotlight variants this month.

I agree that March is better quality.

I used 2 more keys just to get Makkari 🤣 She had no variants, and JR Jr is great.

I don't like cartoony vars but I see Reddit folks who can't wait for that Zemo.

100%. I have only targeted two in the past few months: Victoria Hand and last week's Nebula. Next week's Nimrod is tempting and then nothing.

Agreed. The Baron Zemo one coming this week is right up my alley, but I gotta admit it does seem like a 700g variant. I hope they change that along with the rest of spotlight changes
