Important to remember that’s only commercial table egg layer chickens (doesn’t include pullets or turkeys or backyard flocks and obviously not wild birds), so the total number of birds is so much higher. As of yesterday, OH & IN alone lost 10.21+M commercial & backyard birds since mid-December.

Spray your shoes and boots with lysol before coming in, and keep your kitty in the house. It is spread via droppings, which can be -anywhere- even if you are not feeding the birds, which we also shouldn't do. This thing has killed a lot of cats, including big cats. 💔

Yes, because it’s in the wild bird population from small song birds to waterfowl. Now is not the time to let cats roam outside unsupervised where they can interact with sick or dead birds. The problem is there’s been insufficient testing of wild birds and there’s a backlog ⬇️

It is also a good time to upgrade your furnace air filter to the highest quality your system can handle and you can afford; then keep up with changing it regularly ⬇️. Higher MERV numbers are better but some systems can’t handle MERV 13 (though that’s a great one for viruses) so ✅ the user manual.
