They’re great for short distances. I had to get a hybrid eventually, as the range of my Leaf dropped, year by year. If you’re in a large city and have a place to plug in, an older EV is excellent. Very little maintenance.

the older EVs are super cheap (at least around where I live), so they might be a good pick. I'd suggest figuring out how much you typically drive per day, and see what it costs for something that will go 3x that (because the last 1/3 is basically freak out, gotta charge inducing)
There's a lot of Birminghams! Yeah, it's a regional thing. I'm in USA (California). Just make sure you're looking at much older Leafs, too, unless your local rules inflate price. A 2018 Leaf would more than meet your range description. I wouldn't go much further than that, given battery degradation.
