Interestingly, MMF1 implies INTRAcellular perception of the soil microbiome, revealing a deeply intimate interaction between plants and their soil microbiome. This discovery presents a major step forward how hosts genetically control their microbiome.

I am curious which effector(s) is recognized by MMF1. Maybe one secreted by a keystone microbe? Or well conserved across microbiota members?

(You mention "bacterial effector" in the discussion, but it could be a fungal/oomycetal one too, right?)
