Microsoft wants to make the Xbox app the home of PC gaming. Hundreds more games are now appearing in the Xbox app as Microsoft looks to bring even more PC games to its ecosystem. Swapping from Steam to the Xbox app is a non-starter.
Then again, Valve is making huge strides in that area: Steam Deck and the upcoming Steam Machines.
There's a lot of dissatisfaction they can take advantage of.
Also that would mean the Xbox handheld would play Xbox games, Playstation games, Steam/EGS exclusive games, and Non-steam PC games.
within time microsoft will do their best to kill steam
-playful compliance with the law (we arenβt a monopoly we put games on steam!)
- get unaware consumers to view MS not as an evil but your average game dev
they can slowly build the good will with the xbox app. itβs a long play

Epic, Ubi and EA launchers are currently better and that's saying something.
Plus, the progression of SteamOS on handhelds is gonna push me even deeper into Valve's ecosystem.
Valve has shown to be the superior vendor for decades. I don't see Microsoft winning this battle.
