I guess when the times comes and we don't need hardware anymore, we could just have our whole libraries in the cloud. All we would need to have is just a screen. And there will be no problems anymore. But it's impossible RN in the countries like Georgia, we have high ping cuz servers are too far.

This doesn't address the issue. Neither back compat nor Play Anywhere covers the whole Xbox catalogue. Everything Xbox does is half-baked at best. And people are not helped when they want to continue playing on console, not "anywhere".

I can see the PlayStation 6 having an optional disc drive like it has happened to their digital edition PS5 and PS5 Pro, but sadly not the next Xbox console(s), but that's just speculation on my part.

Xbox's back-compat commitment is laudable, but sadly, Play Anywhere is mostly led by first party titles and some games on Game Pass. Third party support for it continues to be very poor, with no signs of it changing:

they haven’t, but it feels like the natural way things will go if they get serious about closing the gap to PC. We already have community folks working on an Xbox One emulator for PC

Appreciate the response Tom. The answer is, it wouldn't matter. I would probably either go back to playstation(don't want to) or just switch entirely to pc and cancel gamepass(also don't want to). I wish them luck and I hope people are happy with it, but all of this feels like a huge mistake.

Microsoft has technically been the best about backwards compatibility and keeping software working long-term.

The Series X can play games going back to the original Xbox. Windows can play games going all the way back to DOS/Windows 95…I think they’ll have people covered in the long term.

I’d like to see more Play Anywhere titles. Especially with their push to any platform, anywhere. One of the big pushes for me to utilize cloud gaming is that purpose. Example: MLB The Show 25 isn’t on gamepass this year but if it was on cloud gaming (not confirmed) I would get it in a heartbeat.
