The papers from that symposium have now been published in the Cornell Law Review. They are a remarkable collection from an all-star cast of scholars covering the sweep of Sherry's interests: animal rights; criminal procedure; evidence; feminism; and more.

When Sherry died in 2022, she had written a rough draft of what is now the lead article. I completed and updated it, taking the liberty of making myself a co-author. It critiques claims that restrictions on abortion, aid in dying, and gender-affirming care merely allow nature to take its course.

Professor Blume's article took inspiration from a book proposal that Sherry and I wrote for a book on the death penalty and animal slaughter that we had back-burnered. Although coming from a different perspective, he makes excellent use of the parallels.

Professor Bryant's article uses Sherry's view that non-human animals have the rights of moral patients (like human infants) as a starting point for exploring circumstances in which animals act as moral agents, capable of making moral choices.

Professor Buchanan's article explores the anti-theocratic and feminist themes in Sherry's series of columns and blog posts in the last months of her life, and how they were both a culmination of and a break from her earlier work.
