hey guys, be careful when subscribing to blocklists. there's been an increase in new troll accounts adding people to deceptive lists. The list names will say they're one thing, but the list will exclusively only contain accounts opposite of that.

First week I was here I was approached by someone claiming to be an artist. They were aggressive in seeking a com. I ignored and then the account was gone. Be careful!
ngl tho one of the funniest lists I've made it on is "Invasive furry"
but yeah I'm super skeptical of blocklists since the big twitter jump to here. Lists don't show up on your profile or anything so easy to ignore after reporting. Outside of the trolling there's also just some weird ones
like rage-bait types which are report-able and violate TOS so there's that nugget of wisdom if you come across any that are either false/trolls or are meant to harass users for being trans (usually) and existing or not liking/supporting crypto/ainft
I have had to unsubscribe from even the lists touted as "safe" or "trustworthy" because friends of mine would keep getting added to lists they do not belong to. Sometimes they'd be temporarily removed and then re-added again.
Ultimately, we can really only trust ourselves to block - I tend to mute
Someone who clearly doesnt know what neoliberalism even is put me on a "Neoliberal Ghoul" blocklist and i dont even fit the criteria they claim to hold for it very confusing
Been trying to tell people this - malicious auto-updating blocklists were so bad during gamergate that I had to completely start over. It's REALLY being taking advantage of here.
For some reason the people making these troll accounts also like to use free bsky domains like foodsky(dot)social, fursky(dot)social, swifties(dot)social, musicsky(dot)social, gaysky(dot)social etc
that also means that just because
someone is on a list, doesn't mean it's accurate or trustworthy
yeah personally I've never subscribed to someone else's block list, if anything I'll go through their list myself to vet accounts before adding the accounts to my own list
so lame that people choose to be malicious and waste their time on stuff like that. I figure they must be miserable and just want to make other people feel miserable too
Yeah, I subbed to one that targeted someone I follow...it got deleted but now it's glitched and says all their posts are blocked posts when I respond to them. :/

Doing my best to avoid a twitter like space here

I've seen one a while ago that claimed to block all AI artists and inside there were just trans artists (none of them using AI, a clear troll list)
