Finally scored some partridge. Hack job by me - hackle stem broke three times - but what a difference compared to hen. Beautiful feather to look at. Now to attempt to tie another without so many swears.

My biggest worry is going from #4 to #1/0 saltwater baitfish patterns to sz12-16 hook sizes, and whether my fat fingers and somewhat older eyes can handle it 🤣

That was my path. Back when stripers were abundant in the Chesapeake we used to tie up Deceivers and Clousers and chase them with 8 wts. in a center console. Now I have no boat big fish are rare and numbers low so I mainly tie for freshwater. A lighted magnifier helps but smaller than size 16, no go
