I’m fairly nervous about Villa. I can’t lie. They play like what we struggle most against with our setup, & what we’ve found no answer to, as yet. Overloading central areas.

I wouldn’t agree, tbh. We as fans aren’t “owed” anything. It’s not transactional. But, if we want to give ourselves the best chance possible, the players “owe” it to themselves to turn up & put in a performance. I’m not even thinking about City until they’re the next game, tbh.
They should've won against Ipswich but for Ipswich keeper turning to prime Buffon. However, they haven't been in good form and we usually do well there. They need the points & Rashford will be jumping at the bit. With a Desasi and Mings CB pairing. and no Kamara & Onana, no better time to play them.
I agree in general. If we perform, we should win. It’s just tactically they’re a bad matchup for us unless we adjust, & very few of our players haven’t been playing near their best level recently.
Not sure I’d describe it as comprehensive, tbh. We were dominant in possession & more clinical, but it was pretty even in shots, & not comfortable until late on, when Mo scored.
Oh, I know we’ve got a good record historically against them. We should win tomorrow, if we perform, but we’ll need to be much better than in our recent games.
I remember it being an edgy game, not comfortable at all. They broke through us quite a few times, & were difficult to contain. It was a fairly even match, IMO.
At Anfield, Villa’s most dangerous shots came from set pieces, they created very little from open play. Incidentally we scored our goals following Villa corners…
I thought they got through us pretty easily in open play but couldn’t find the last pass for the clear chances, tbh. They were dangerous enough to concern me until we scored the 2nd late on.
That doesn’t really tell you which areas that they got into or how the moves broke down, though. From memory, we defended well, & on a few occasions, they botched up. They’ll be dangerous, tomorrow. We need to play well.
What it tells us (and as I remember it) was that they were more dangerous on set pieces. They will be dangerous on set pieces tomorrow again. I’d have our biggest/tallest players starting.
I agree. The only plus point is they have very important players missing. Kamara and Onana both missing who are players we would struggle against. I'm worried about their right flank and our LB. Diaz needs to step up. Jota/Nunez as well. Szobo needs to do more than he did against Wolves.
I still believe that if we play well, we win, but I’m talking about the players hitting 8s & 9s, not 5s & 6s. It’s time to start to perform like we’re top of the league again.

If we play well like you mentioned, we beat most teams even on their good days.
