I was born in 1956. Probably had immunity, but didn't want to take chances. Talked to my doctor to make sure a 2nd vaccination wouldn't hurt me. I got the MMR shot yesterday.
And funnily enough, still alive after umpteen Covid, flu, pneumonia, shingles, etc. etc. shots. Who knew? 😉
Yeah, and as a kid you have antibodies from your mother while in utero (and breastfeeding too), so those prevent a robust response to the vaccine, which is why it isnt given until 12mo. The antibodies need to wane first. But you dont wanna wait TOO long, so its a balance and some antibodies remain.
I'm pretty sure I got all the others you're supposed to get. My doctor apparently just waved this one off. However, I should probably confirm this with my mom.
I get my booster tomorrow. Anyone born 1957 to 1968 should get an mmr antibody test. I was only immune to rubella. Mumps and measles no current immunity.
followup info on the measles booster, if you’re on an antiviral medication, you’ll need to stop that for two weeks before can get the shot, as it counters the live virus booster. So I’m on pause for two weeks and then get the shot. Did get a COVID booster instead.

Do you need two doses or just one?
