It’s strategic propaganda. You’ll see articles like this always increase just before a new GP contract is negotiated. It’s usually spin from the DH or the right wing media barons crusade to increase private healthcare. It’s definitely not by chance.

I agree, what they want is private medical care to be the norm so their investment in private medicine and insurance can reap dividends.
